Excursions for Viola is an album of pieces designed to introduce the beginning string player to the joys of reading music, one note at a time! Each string is introduced with a set of ten pieces spanning a wide range of musical styles. Bossa Novas, Viennese waltzes, blues, and gavottes all reside happily together! Ten ‘Sightseeing’ Excursions for each string offer additional reinforcement of note naming skills. A final piece, ‘Reach for the Stars’ employs all four strings. Jim Fee’s charming and witty illustrations complement many of the compositions.
